President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on the results of the national company’s performance over the first seven months of the current year.
Askhat Khasenov reported that KazMunayGas continues to actively carry out geological exploration activities. This year, the drilling of seven wells is planned for additional exploration at existing fields, with three wells already completed.
For the first time, China’s CNOOC has decided to invest in geological exploration projects in Kazakhstan. In addition, Sinopec has expressed its intention to make substantial investments in the country. Multinational corporations Shell, Chevron, and British Petroleum are conducting comprehensive studies of sites in the Atyrau, Aktobe, and Mangystau regions.
Over the past seven months, oil and condensate production amounted to 15.3 million tonnes, representing a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Natural and associated gas production reached 6.7 billion cubic meters, exceeding last year’s figure by 19%.
Projects aimed at increasing gas processing volumes are being implemented at the West Prorva field (Atyrau Region), Oriktau field (Aktobe Region), and the Rozhkovskoye field (West Kazakhstan Region).
The volume of oil transportation totaled 49 million tonnes. Efforts to develop additional export routes are ongoing: 0.9 million tonnes of oil were transported to Azerbaijan, 1.1 million tonnes to Germany, and the first batch of 85,000 tonnes of Kazakh oil was delivered to Hungary.
This year, 10.4 million tonnes of oil were processed at domestic oil refineries. Fuel production reached 7.8 million tonnes, increasing by 936,000 tonnes, which represents a record-high level.
It was also noted that at the Kendirli plant in the Mangystau Region, desalinated seawater has begun to be supplied to the water distribution network of the city of Zhanaozen.
In addition, construction is underway on a 247 MW hybrid power plant, as well as a polyethylene plant with an annual capacity of 1.25 million tonnes. The total investment in the project amounts to USD 7.4 billion.
Finally, Askhat Khasenov informed the President about social projects being implemented in the regions.
