Kazmortransflot participated in the practice on liquidation of oil spill in the area of the port of Aktau
On 28 May of 2024, Kazmortransflot together with NC ‘Aktau Sea Trade Port’ JSC and KMG Systems & Services LLP held an emergency practice on localisation and liquidation of oil spill in the territory of Aktau port. The tanker ‘Almaty’ was involved in the training.
The action was initiated in order to fulfil the requirement of the Production Safety Plan of Samruk Kazyna JSC.
The purpose of the exercise is to avoid and prevent possible emergencies at sea, associated with a possible leakage or subsequent oil spill on the sea surface, which can lead to very serious consequences for the ecology of the sea, as well as for the life and health of people.
The crew of the tanker ‘Almaty’ (KMTF), units of voluntary civil defence units of the port, KMG S&S and NGPS ‘Signal’ successfully coped with the task of oil spill liquidation, fire fighting and rescue of a crew member overboard.
Representatives of Samruk Kazyna JSC, NC KazMunayGas JSC, Akimat of Mangistau region, Department of Emergency Situations in Mangistau region, Department of Ecology in Mangistau region and NC KTZ JSC were the participants of the training.
The participants of the training demonstrated the prompt readiness of forces and means to localise and eliminate an oil spill, extinguish a fire and rescue a person who was overboard, and thus proved their skills and capabilities to respond to emergencies. As a result of the exercise, the aims of the exercise were met.
