On September 9 this year Baku (Azerbaijan) hosted the 17th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Azerbaijan.


The meeting was attended by Aidar Esenzhanovich Orzhanov, General Director of NMSC "Kazmortransflot", who was a member of the Kazakh government delegation headed by the Minister of trade and integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting addressed issues of the current situation in trade and economic, energy, transport, logistics, industrial and information and communication sectors, as well as agriculture and food security.


Further steps to expand cooperation were discussed, and joint measures in specific areas were identified for further deepening of cooperation in the respective spheres.

As Mr. B. Sultanov, Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Co-Chairman of the Commission, noted, the data on the commodity turnover between the two countries indicate the prospects for increasing the use of the existing potential of cooperation. On Kazakhstan's readiness to promptly increase supplies of goods in demand in the economy of Azerbaijan and the need to create mutually beneficial links for effective reconstruction of transport and logistics trade chains.

B.Sultanov emphasized that according to forecasts by 2028 the volume of trade flows around the world will increase by 45%, and the main part of logistics will fall on the land transport and one of the main tasks is to correctly integrate the Trans-Caspian international transport corridor into the global supply system.
