The central office of the Russia’s Energy Customs had opened a criminal case against the captain of the tanker Altai (IMO 9446427), owned by NMSK Kazmortransflot LLP.

The criminal case is in connection with the alleged violation by the captain (a citizen of Russia) of the ban on the export of goods from the Russian Federation to the territory of Ukraine (Russian Government’s Resolution dated December 29, 2018 No. 1716-83 "On measures to implement the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of October 22, 2018 No. 592 ")

Note that in March 2020, the tanker Altai was chartered to carry Export Blend Crude Oil (non-Russian origin) from the port of Novorossiysk to Black Sea / Mediterranean ports.

The cargo’s buyer was Socar Trading SA, which declared the Republic of Belarus as the cargo’s final destination (according to the bills of lading, the final recipient is BNK (UK) Limited, a subsidiary of the Belarusian Oil Company), in transit through the Ukrainian port Yuzhny.

In this respect, we hereby declare that neither the owner of the tanker, NMSK Kazmortransflot LLP, nor the employees of our company, including the captain of the tanker, were involved in the selection of the cargo’s routing, since under the terms of the freight agreement the delivery was carried out in the interests of the cargo Buyers.
