On December 4, 2020, within the framework of the International Association "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" (TITR), a freight train from Turkey to China departed for the first time.

As a result, the Silk Road from Europe to Asia was launched. The total length of the route of the train loaded with 42 containers with consumer goods is 8693 km (2 continents, 2 seas and five countries). The total journey time of the cargo is 12 days.

The final destination of the cargo is the Chinese city of Shanghai. The freight train started from the railway station in the European part of Istanbul. The train crossed the Bosphorus through an underground tunnel, arrived in Ankara, and then along the new Kars-Tbilisi-Baku transport corridor the train reached the port of Baku.

On December 12, 2020, the cargo was delivered to the port of Aktau across the Caspian Sea on the KMTF feeder vessel "Beket Ata". The ceremony of welcoming the feeder in the port was held with the participation of the Deputy Akim of Mangistau region Nurlybay Akkulov, General Director of NMSC Kazmortransflot Aidar Orzhanov, management of KTZ EXPRESS JSC and the port of Aktau, Consul of Turkey in Aktau.

Furthermore, the train will journey by railway with a length of 3200 km through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The cargo will be delivered via Xi'an to Shanghai.

The launch of the Europe - China transit route will have a positive effect on the development of the international transport corridor, attracting customers and investors, and improving the infrastructure of all TITR member countries.

The transport operator is the Trans-Caspian International Transport Consortium, which carries out transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. The sea operator of this transport connection is NMSC Kazmortransflot.

On April 16, 2019, a container feeder line was launched along the route "Aktau port - Alat port (Baku) - Aktau port". Since the beginning of the operation of the feeder line, 20,000 TEU containers have been transported. It is worth noting that 70% of transported containers are cargo transported from the Aktau port to the Alat port.

According to calculations, this route is the shortest from Europe to China, which makes it very convenient for shippers. Participation in cargo transportation along this new transport route will allow Kazakhstan to increase its transit potential and contribute to the development of the economy.
