In Abu Dhabi (UAE), the National Maritime Shipping Company Kazmortransflot, part of the group of companies of JSC NC KazMunayGas, signed an agreement on basic terms and conditions with AD Ports Group. The document is aimed at strengthening partnership and expanding business in the Caspian region.
The parties agreed to build two modern container ships with a capacity of more than 500 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent), specially designed to operate in the Caspian Sea. The new shallow draft vessels will increase the turnover and throughput capacity of the Trans-Caspian route.
In addition, the companies confirmed further expansion prospects for the development of an intermodal ferry line across the Caspian Sea. The project includes the construction of large-capacity ferries and the creation of modern terminal infrastructure, which will significantly reduce transit time for Kazakh exporters and participants in the Middle Corridor.
The strategic partnership is aimed at developing transport infrastructure and increasing Kazakhstan's competitiveness in international logistics.
