The vessels of NMSC Kazmortransflot successfully and timely completed their missions in Tengizchevroil Future Growth Project (hereinafter - FGP TCO) last year.
At the end of the contract period in this project KMTF was considering the issue of the optimal use of its vessels in the coming years. In order to use one of MCVs expediently and due to existing well-established container line along the Aktau-Baku-Aktau route within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, it was decided to convert MCV Barys into a container ship.
A special technical project was developed and the Investment Committee of JSC National Company KazMunayGas approved its implementation.
To the moment modernization works of the vessel completed. On March 8, 2021, The container vessel “Barys” of Kazmortransflot safely begun her first voyage Aktau-Baku-Aktau route. She is 113 meters long and 21 meters wide and has a capacity of 165 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) containers, depending on the weight of each container.
To remind MCV "Barys" was built by special order on Vard shipyard, Romania. She is one of three MCVs built to participate FGP TCO. MCV Barys was first launched on May 12, 2017 in Braila, Romania.
