KMG and Abu Dhabi Ports Group Discuss Strategic Partnership

In Astana, the Chairman of the Management Board of NC KazMunayGas JSC (KMG), Askhat Khassenov, held a meeting with Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime Cluster of Abu Dhabi Ports Group (ADP), and Abdulaziz Zayed Al Shamsi, Regional Executive Director of the company.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and key issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of maritime transportation, as well as opportunities for expanding Kazakhstan’s merchant fleet. Special attention was paid to the development of tanker and container fleets.

Tankers of the joint venture CIMS have transported more than 1.5 million tons of oil.
In addition, a joint tanker pool for operations in open seas has been established. Currently, the pool includes four Aframax-class tankers, with ongoing efforts to expand it to eight vessels.

Taking into account ADP’s extensive international experience in organizing and transporting container cargo, as well as the prospects for developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, a project has been launched to build two container vessels for commercial operations in the Caspian Sea.

The parties confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening cooperation, which will contribute to the development of Trans-Caspian maritime transport and unlock Kazakhstan’s transit and transport potential.
