Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas Magzum Mirzagaliyev during his business visit to Abu Dhabi (UAE) met with the Chairman of the Board of Abu Dhabi Ports Group (ADP) Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi.

The parties discussed the current activities of the joint venture Caspian Integrated Maritime Solutions (CIMS) within the framework of the fulfillment of the instruction of the President of Kazakhstan on the development of alternative routes for the export of Kazakh hydrocarbons. In particularly, last month new oil tankers with deadweight of 8000 tons - "Taraz" and "Liwa" were purchased, which will be involved in transportation of Kazakhstani oil along the Caspian Sea.

In this January, during his trip to the UAE, the Head of State Qasym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the management of Abu Dhabi Ports Group. The President greeted ADP's prospects for the development of maritime and port infrastructure on the Caspian Sea and the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with the national company KazMunaiGas. The head of state noted that Kazakhstan intends to become a full-fledged transportation hub in Central Asia and the Caspian region and is working to diversify transportation routes. In part, the country is actively developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the North-South Transport Corridor.

During the meeting the sides considered matters of cooperation on oil transportation in the open seas as well. Today the joint pool of tankers of NMSC Kazmortransflot LLP (KMTF, a subsidiary of KMG) and ADP consists of 4 vessels. In current year for the first time a contract for transportation of Tengiz oil in international waters was signed with Chevron. KMTF and ADP tankers started transportation of cargo under this contract.

Three more ADP tankers - 2 Aframax (115,000 deadweight tons) and 1 Suezmax (130,000 deadweight tons) - are expected to join the pool by the end of this year.

"We are pleased with the development of our cooperation with Abu Dhabi Ports Group. Today we are actively working to expand the pool of international companies using our oil transportation services in the long term. In the short term, we plan to jointly build tankers for oil transportation in the open seas and the Caspian Sea. Taking into account the expansion of tanker fleet in the future our joint venture CIMS may become a maritime logistics player of global scale", - said M. Mirzagaliyev.

In addition, M. Mirzagaliyev and M. Juma Al Shamisi discussed the program of employment of Kazakhstanis at ADP facilities in the UAE and other countries. Currently preparing a draft agreement between the companies in this area, involving the hiring of Kazakh specialists for five years.
