Today, April 16, two years have passed since the launch of the regular feeder line along the Aktau-Baku-Aktau route, which is part of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (hereinafter – TITR). The route had been launched to the “Nurly Zhol” program.
NMSC “Kazmortransflot” is the maritime operator of this feeder services.
Since the beginning of the feeder line operation, 25 145 containers in the twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) have been transported. Of them, from the Aktau port – 17 613 TEU, from Baku port – 7 532 TEU.
The cargo consists mainly of crop, fruits and vegetables, consumer goods, machinery and spare parts, frozen products, chemical and mineral fertilizers and many others.
During the existence of the feeder line, various KMTF vessels were involved, such as the dry cargo vessels Turkestan and Beket-Ata, modernized container shipping vessel “Barys”. From March 8, 2021, the main feeder vessel on the line is the “Barys” container shipping vessel. Feeder vessel made a total of 227 consecutive voyages.
Since the beginning of the launch of the feeder at TITR, the cargo traffic volume in both directions has been gradually increasing and has reached its peak. Since December 2020, the Ankara – Xi’an train departs regularly, marking the success of the entire TITR in both directions.
After two years of successful operation of the feeder route, we can say with confidence that the main goal – to contribute to the development of the transport and logistics potential of Kazakhstan – has been achieved.
